Life is a gift that we can choose to enjoy. During our busy lives we sometimes forget to notice that our world is a beautiful place, with lovely colours and designs surrounding us. I see my role as an artist, with a compelling need to share with the viewer, this positive energy that avails itself to us. The chance that a viewer will pause to observe, contemplate and feel an emotion or be exposed to a new concept is just cause to spend hours on a work. The challenge for me is to explore and utilize the many different types of media that will best express these thoughts and feelings, while inviting the viewer on an excursion of new discoveries.
The subject of my paintings are as varied as the media used to execute them. Realistic images of flowers and scenery share space with intuitive impressionistic pieces and abstracts. Light, energy, texture and colour are the initiatives that inspire me to continue creating new paintings. I especially enjoy allowing my intuition and energy to take charge. I am challenged to experiment with techniques and approaches, such as soft pastel batik or collage work with unique items.
We never finish learning, exploring, experimenting, reaching and communicating for greater accomplishments.
